چکیده

The sequestrate Rhodactina was originally proposed as a monotypic genus to accommodate R. himalayensis and was suggested be a member of the Gautieriaceae because of similarities in spore ornamentation. Our results, based on atp6 sequences, however, place Rhodactina in the Boletaceae. In addition to the type species, a new species, R. incarnata, from northern Thailand is described and illustrated. Key words—taxonomy, new taxon, phylogeny, mycorrhizae, distribution

Phylogenetic affinities of the sequestrate genus Rhodactina (Boletaceae), with a new species, R. rostratispora from Thailand

Rhodactina is a small sequestrate genus in Boletaceae with two described species, R. himalayensis and R. incarnata. Phylogenetic analyses of a three-gene dataset including atp6, tef1 and rpb2 of Rhodactina species along with selected Boletaceae species showed that all Rhodactina species formed a monophyletic clade, sister to the genera Spongiforma and Borofutus in subfamily Leccinoideae with hi...

Kombocles bakaiana gen. sp. nov. (Boletaceae), a new sequestrate fungus from Cameroon*

Kombocles bakaiana gen. sp. nov. is described as new to science. This sequestrate, partially hypogeous fungus was collected around and within the stilt root system of an ectomycorrhizal (ECM) tree of the genus Uapaca (Phyllanthaceae) in a Guineo-Congolian mixed tropical rainforest in Cameroon. Molecular data place this fungus in Boletaceae (Boletales, Agaricomycetes, Basidiomycota) with no clea...

New sequestrate fungi from Guyana: Jimtrappea guyanensis gen. sp. nov., Castellanea pakaraimophila gen. sp. nov., and Costatisporus cyanescens gen. sp. nov. (Boletaceae, Boletales).

Jimtrappea guyanensis gen. sp. nov., Castellanea pakaraimophila gen. sp. nov., and Costatisporus cyanescens gen. sp. nov. are described as new to science. These sequestrate, hypogeous fungi were collected in Guyana under closed canopy tropical forests in association with ectomycorrhizal (ECM) host tree genera Dicymbe (Fabaceae subfam. Caesalpinioideae), Aldina (Fabaceae subfam. Papilionoideae),...

Guyanagaster, a new wood-decaying sequestrate fungal genus related to Armillaria (Physalacriaceae, Agaricales, Basidiomycota).

UNLABELLED PREMISE OF THE STUDY Sequestrate basidiomycete fungi (e.g. "gasteromycetes") have foregone ballistospory and evolved alternative, often elaborate mechanisms of basidiospore dispersal with highly altered basidioma morphology. Sequestrate fungi have independently evolved in numerous Agaricomycete lineages, confounding taxonomic arrangements of these fungi for decades. Understanding ...

Test the monophyly of Calostoma and resolve its higher-level phylogenetic position within the Sclerodermatineae. 3. Infer species-level relationships within the genus using phylogenetic analyses of a comprehensive sampling of Calostoma

Introduction The genus Calostoma comprises a morphologically unusual group of gasteroid fungi (puffballs). The genus name, "beautiful mouth", aptly describes this genus, which forms a brightly colored raised opening at its apex, from which it releases its spores (FIG 1a-b). The genus has been placed in multiple fungal groups including its own family, the Calostomataceae. Recent molecular studie...
